We do a lot of different tasks as part of our organic SEO package. Depending on our clients’ specific needs, we may be posting blog entries; writing and distributing articles to article directories, press release services, and Web 2.0 properties; or submitting the client’s website to a few thousand hand-picked directories. Most of what we do is pretty obvious to even an unsavvy client, but one thing we consistently get questions about: why do we do forum posting as part of our service?
The answer is surprisingly complex. There are a few different reasons why forum posting can be good for our clients, and it’s not always the same reason for every client.
Forum Posting is a Form of Social Marketing
When you post to a forum and you mention your product, you’re not exactly posting about it on your Facebook wall, but you are exposing the populace of the forum to your product. Forum posters are particularly good about responding with their opinions about their board-mates’ ideas and products, so posting about your product or business on a forum is a good way to get some social proof and spread the word at the same time.
Forum Posting Is Good SEO Strategy
Forums are wonderful sites for backlinks. They constantly produce new content (Google loves that), they’re generally pretty tightly focused around their subject of choice, and as long as you post your backlink with the blessing of the administrator, the links tend to last forever. Of course, it can be a pain in the butt to get the administrator’s blessing, but we make sure to do so before we start planning to post a backlink at all.
The backlinks you build from forums have almost everything that Google loves in backlink. They’re from an authoritative, relevant source with plenty of regular traffic. You get to control the anchor text and the LSI text as well as when the post is made and precisely which page on your site it links to (so it’s good for deep linking). There’s really no downside to a link from a forum to your site.
So what does forum posting do for our clients? Almost everything, if it’s done right — all the more reason for us to do it.

I used to be able to post on a particular forum for months and it shows that I haven’t been banned. I can log in and it says I have access to posting and viewing profiles, but when I try I get this message:

I’ve tried both IE and fire fox, deleted cookies, temporary internet files, etc with no luck. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Companies can add a section ‘Temporary jobs or Freelance jobs’ on the careers page of their own website and post and manage all flexible jobs. Freelancers and staffing agencies can create a profile and bid on projects. This way the company builds their own talent pool and contingent workers easily get access to new projects.
Each company will have the subdomain name: companyname.ourdomainname.com. We could use some creative input in thinking of a great name for this application, of which the .com domain name is still available.

I would have liked to submitted my article to directories that relate to real estate. I first checked google for directories called 1. real estate articles and 2. real estate article directory. Most of the these article directories are terrible. So I them tried search for article directory or article directories. I submitted to the first 50 article directories listed with Google. Only 6 of the 50 have approved of my article. The others have not and just seem dead. I noticed many of the article directories show in their footer the year 2005, 2006 or 2007.
My question is: are article directories dead? Is there really 500-1000 article directories out there that are worth submitting to? If yes, does anyone have an updated list? I’ve tried Google, digitalpoint and other resources.

Hi, my problem is that when I was younger, I used to be on several forums and now I have said or done some pretty embarrasing things on the forums I was on. I have Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 with DVD Architect. I would like to know which method of capturing has the highest video quality between DV, HDV, and SDI. I have been using DV. Now that I have a newer HD TV, the videos don’t look as sharp as they used to. They actually look pretty poor. I’m not sure if it’s because I have a cheap dvd player or if I should be capturing in a different format. Store bought/rental movies look good on the tv though. I had Vegas 6 (I think) before I got the 8.0 and a smaller tv and had better quality than I do now. The camera that I use is older, but the video quality doesn’t seem as good now. Just trying to figure out if I should capture the video to the program different or if the larger tv just shows the flaws better. I’m not an electronic expert by any means and I am well aware that Vegas has way more to offer than I will ever use. I mainly shoot my kids’ sporting events and send them to the their grandparents and aunts and uncles. I have been able to put together a few good cd’s for them though I question the quality that they get when they pop them in their sets.
